1993: Best: Tombstone Honorable mention: Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park, The Sandlot, The Fugitive Guilty Pleasure: Cool Runnings Movie(s) I feel bad for not seeing: In the Name of the Father, The Nightmare Before Christmas Embarrassing admission: I’ve never seen the Nightmare Before Christmas all the way through. That will be corrected some time soon, however, since my girlfriend is a huge fan of the movie. Daniel Day-Lewis is one of my favorite actors, and the best actor working today, so I don’t have any good excuse for why I haven’t see In the Name of the Father. Schindler’s List took home Best Picture honors for this year, but for my money Tombstone was the best movie of the year. Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday remains my favorite movie character of all time and it is an absolute CRIME that he didn’t WIN best supporting actor for that role, let alone not even receive a nomination.
